Night Walk Shines Bright For Good Causes

Twilight Walk shines brightly for local causes with bumper fundraising total

The end of March saw hundreds of walkers challenging themselves in support of worthy local causes as the Night Walk returned to the region following an extended absence.

Organised by Dove House Hospice, the Night Walk took place on Saturday 29 th March with a circular route starting and finishing at St Stephen’s Shopping Centre in Hull. Tackling 7.5 miles of Hull’s historical heritage and uniqueness, 353 walkers chose to light the night sky with glowsticks, lights and fancy dress to help raise awareness and funds for charities including:
Dove House Hospice, RSPCA Hull and East Riding, Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University, fitmums and friends, Health Stars, WISHH, Hopen and Hull 4 Heroes.

Dan Clipson, Senior Fundraiser at Dove House Hospice said, “We are incredibly grateful for the response to this year’s Night Walk. To see hundreds of walkers embracing the challenge in wet and windy conditions in good spirits was fantastic to see. Many chose to walk in memory of a loved one, whilst others walked to support a cause that held personal significance. We’re delighted that this year’s walk has risen to over £22,000 with expectations that the total figure will be in excess of £25,000. Thank you to all involved for your support.

The walk was supplemented by support from local sponsors, Sadofskys, Siemens Gamesa and James Legal with employees taking part in the walk, offering encouragement as part of a cheer station or serving much
needed refreshments, giving the event a warming community feel as walkers strode to make a difference locally.
