New Paths Postcards Video Series
Thu 10th September 2020As summer draws to a close, New Paths Music is launching its brand new Postcards video series.
The short musical films feature pieces are chosen for their connections in different ways to the history and story of the town of Beverley. Shot and recorded in the highest quality, against the glorious backdrop of Beverley Minster, these Postcards showcase performances by exceptional singers and instrumentalists in a delectable selection of music.
First up, New Paths Postcards is welcoming back festival favourite baritone Johnny Herford, who joins Artistic Director Libby Burgess in Benjamin Britten’s sublime arrangement of the timeless folksong O Waly, Waly. You can watch it here.
Beverley itself has always been utterly fundamental to New Paths: it was the place that inspired Roland Deller and Libby Burgess to found the festival, it is the place that inspires creativity in their musicians and their programming, and it is the place which generates the festival spirit everyone knows and loves. The Postcards series aims to capture this on film: it is a true meeting of music and place. Rowland and Libby were honoured to be able to record in the Minster over the summer, while it was closed to visitors, and are proud that these films will share the story of our beautiful town with a wider audience.
New Paths Postcards will be released weekly on YouTube over the next two months and are free to view. If you wish to donate towards the cost of making these videos, and to help make a second series possible, you can do so here.
Enjoy this series of musical missives from Beverley over the coming weeks: don't forget to keep your eyes peeled on New Paths' social media and on the website for the next releases.
