New jobs created as law costs specialists Carter Burnett expand and open new office in Newcastle
Thu 18th March 2021Specialist law costs consultants Carter Burnett is creating three new full-time jobs with the opening of a new office in Newcastle.
Established in 2018, the fast-growing business has enjoyed rapid expansion and now employs a team of 13 people in this highly-skilled area of the law from its head office in Beverley, East Yorkshire.
Two of their experienced Costs Draftsmen – Sean Linley and Seamus Kelly – are already based in the North East and will lead operations in Newcastle.
Mr Kelly, an experienced solicitor with Higher Court Advocacy rights, joined Carter Burnett earlier this year and specialises in complex clinical negligence and high-value personal injury costs claims. Mr Linley, who is vastly experienced in civil litigation, previously worked alongside Mr Kelly during their time at Gateshead-based Partners in Costs.
Founder Jon-Paul Burnett said: “We’re honoured to represent a variety of high calibre claimant law firms from throughout the UK, but we love working with the clients we have in Newcastle and are delighted to reaffirm our commitment to the area.”
“We already have two vastly-experienced Costs Specialists based in Newcastle so this North East expansion is a logical next step to further enhance our growing reputation.”
Whilst property negotiations are still ongoing, the Newcastle office is on schedule to open in summer and applications are already being invited via the Carter Burnett website.
Director Lee Carter said: “We're planning to appoint three new full-time staff before the Newcastle office opens to expand our team up there to five and cement our place as one of the leading names in the law costs industry.
“The ability to work remotely has meant we are busier than ever because claimant law firms can now appoint a Costs Lawyer from anywhere in the country to attend hearings. It also means we can make these key appointments so that our people are in place ready for the opening of our new office.
“We’re planning to take on two experienced costs lawyers and a degree-qualified trainee. It’s exciting times, we can’t wait to start interviewing applicants and we’re confident it will pave the way for further job opportunities in the future.”
