If you’ve ever wondered how to put your spare time to good use, Beverley Community Lift (BCL) has the answer. The charity is looking for volunteer minibus drivers to help support people across the local area who rely on community transport.
On Saturday 10th October, Beverley Community Lift will host an open morning at the Beverley Enterprise Centre, Beck View Rd, Beverley HU17 0JT, from 9.30am to 12pm. Everyone is welcome to book a session and come and chat with volunteers, and discover what being a volunteer driver is really like. A minibus will be available for anyone who wants to give it a try.
Simon Home who became a volunteer after attending an earlier volunteer session. said “I had recently taken early retirement from teaching and when I saw the details of becoming a voluntary minibus driver for Beverley Community Lift, I thought it was a great way of supporting my community. I liked the taster session as I was able to meet some of the people involved in running the charity, and I could try my hand at driving the minibus before I made any decision. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who has some spare time, I have met some lovely people who find it difficult to get out and about; it's very rewarding knowing how much they appreciate the service and the time the volunteers give”
All you need is a D1 licence provision, a bit of spare time, and the enthusiasm to join a caring, dedicated team. Interested residents are encouraged to book a session and come along to learn more.
The morning has been split into 3 sessions, sign up using either the QR code or weblink:
