Local charity launches #BeKind campaign for Mental Health Awareness Week 2020
Mon 18th May 2020Local mental health charity Hull and East Yorkshire Mind has launched a new #BeKind campaign to encourage local people to be kind to others, and to themselves. The campaign will run as part of Mental Health Awareness Week 18-24th May 2020.
This year, Mental Health Awareness Week aims to bring people together through the benefits of sharing kindness. The week will celebrate kindness and the connection it has on our mental health and wellbeing.
Research shows that kindness and our mental health are deeply connected. Kindness is an antidote to isolation and creates a sense of belonging. It helps reduce stress, brings a fresh perspective and deepens friendships. Kindness to ourselves can prevent shame from corroding our sense of identity and help boost our self-esteem. Kindness can even improve feelings of confidence and optimism.
In the lead up to Mental Health Awareness Week and throughout the week, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind will be sharing resources on their website and social media channels. They will also have a range of wellbeing packs available for you to download from their website - these will be tailored to adults, children and young people and businesses.
Emma Dallimore, Chief Executive at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind said:
“The impact that the coronavirus outbreak has had on our lives has taken many of us by surprise, but the one thing that we have seen all over the world is that kindness is prevailing. Mental Health Awareness Week is a perfect opportunity for us share the importance of kindness, and the positive effect it has on our mental health and wellbeing.”
Hull and East Yorkshire Mind would also like to use this as an opportunity to remind local people that they are still available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
