Tickets are now on sale for East Riding Libraries’ festival for children and young people, Live ‘n Loud in Libraries.
With a varied and exciting programme, the festival will run from Saturday, 5 July until Thursday, 21 August.
Live ‘n Loud at Flemingate will return, bringing free entertainment to the centre of Beverley. Jellyfish Theatre will be performing ‘The Dragon Wagon’ on the green, and a circus skills workshop will be provided by Magic Carpet Theatre.
Local author Chris Turnbull will also be at the Flemingate event hosting a meet and greet for his dog, Olly. There will also be festival hair and glitter, face painting, and more.
Alongside this event there will be a number of workshops, puppet shows, author visits and more to entertain the whole family throughout the summer. Returning favourites include Puppets, Plays & Story Days, with ‘Gruffalo Grand Tour’, and Fun Family Raves with Boomchikkaboom.
New for this year are the Solar System Planetarium shows with LabRascals and Pop-up Book Workshops with artist, Penny Barron.
A selection of children’s authors will also be visiting our libraries, including Giles Trigg, Terrie Chilvers and Steve Cole. They will all be here to talk about their newest book releases and sign copies of their books in the library.
Kimberley Harston, librarian and organiser of Live ‘n Loud in Libraries, said: “After the success of last year’s festival, we can’t wait to be bringing it back this summer!
“We’re so excited to bring so many affordable events to the residents of the East Riding. Live ‘n Loud in Libraries is all about coming together to make noise, have fun and enjoy everything libraries have to offer.”
Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yokrshire Council said: “Live ‘n Loud is a shining example of how our libraries are bringing exciting and vibrant events to community spaces.
‘’This festival not only encourages creativity and learning but also brings families together in a fun and inclusive environment. We’re proud to support such a dynamic and affordable programme that showcases the best of what East Riding has to offer.”
