Latin Dance champions coming to Sewerby Cliff Top as part of Active Coast
Tue 1st August 2017Latin dance champions will be coming to Sewerby Cliff Top on Thursday 10 August, as part of the Active Coast programme.
The Have A Field Day event will feature a wide range of activities for all the family, and a special highlight will be a chance to dance with Chantal Green and Andrea Borrelli, England’s Number One WDSF (World Dance Sport Federation) Amateur Latin dance couple.
Chantal and Andrea train at the famous Team Diablo Dancesport Academy in Italy, home to champions including Joanne Clifton. They have been dancing together since February 2012, and frequently represent England in international competitions.
Chantal Green is 24 and is from Beverley. She started dancing at the age of 13 at Rhythm and Dreams Dance Centre in Hessle. She now specialises in Latin dancing.
Andrea Borrelli is 29, and comes from Catania in Sicily. He started dancing at the age of 11. His partnership with Chantal has developed with shared goals and a vision for their future in dancing.
The Have A Field Day event runs from11am-3pm at Sewerby Cliff Top and is free. In addition to the dancing, it will feature giant inflatables; Louder than Life drummers; multi-sports in the street stadia; face painting; and a range of other sport and play activities.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said : “Getting dancers of the calibre of Chantal and Andrea is a huge coup for Active Coast, and for the Bridlington area. Have A Field Day will be a spectacular event, with loads of different activities to try – or just to watch – with the added bonus of a chance to dance with international dancing stars.
“I am sure this event will be very popular, and will prove a highlight of the Active coast programme for summer 2017.”
‘Active Coast’ is a full programme of events and activities throughout the school holidays to celebrate sport and culture and allow people to explore, join in, and enjoy the East Riding’s stunning coastline.
The programme is designed for residents and visitors to get active, be healthy and enjoy life in the area, with events at Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea.
