Last Chance For East Riding Residents To Secure 250 Support Payments

Payments of £250 are available to residents on low income, through the government’s Household Support Fund (HSF).

The fund, provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is open to residents facing cost of living challenges, with applications accepted until Friday 27 February.

The council is encouraging residents to apply for the funding, as part of its Help for Households campaign.

East Riding of Yorkshire council has awarded £14 million to residents since the HSF began distributing funds in October 2021 and has supported more than 15, 000 households since April 2025.

East Riding residents can apply for the £250 payment, by visiting eryc.link/hsf or by calling the council on 01482 393939.

People who are successfully entitled should receive their payment within 20 days.

As a result of the HSF funding, the council has also been able to fund  other schemes and organisations to support residents in need, including investing more than £1.7 million in free school meal vouchers for eligible families over school holidays in 2025-26, and £70,000 for the Emergency Assistance Scheme for residents in crisis.

The council has allocated £417,000 for food banks, healthy homes initiatives, heating assistance, Humber Wolds Rural Action oil co-operative schemes, and the provision of white goods as needed.

The council offers benefit and debt advice through the Your Money team and trusted partners, as well as courses from its learning and development team. Residents are encouraged to seek support to avoid financial problems.

You can find information about all the support HSF offers at eryc.link/hsf.

Councillor Nigel Wilkinson, East Riding of Yorkshire’s cabinet member for finance and governance said: “We highly encourage residents who may be struggling to find out if they are eligible for this scheme, and to find out more about the support we are able to provide.”
