Improvement work is due to begin next week on Minster Way in Beverley as part of an East Riding-wide scheme.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is investing £310,000 on a series of short scale road repairs across the area and is due to carry out essential work over two evenings/nights at two locations on the A164 Minster Way.
Road works to upgrade surfaces at sites in Bainton, Fridaythorpe, Goole, Stamford Bridge, Howden and Driffield in September and October have already been announced.
On Minster Way, resurfacing work is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 30 September and Wednesday 1 October, between 7pm and 5am, on the approaches to the Pegasus Crossing off Shepherd Lane and the exit off Figham Springs roundabout, where the Lidl supermarket is located, at the east of Minster Way.
During the works, Minster Way will be closed to traffic overnight in either direction.
Phase one of the works to the Pegasus Crossing will involve closing Minster Way from the Lincoln Way roundabout to the Ward Way roundabout on the night of Tuesday 30 September.
Phase two, at Figham Springs will have the section of Minster Way closed from the Figham Springs roundabout to the Peters Way roundabout on Wednesday 1 October.
During the night time working, traffic will be diverted along Victoria Road, Queensgate, Keldgate, Flemingate and Hull Road.
Following the repairs, a special high friction surfacing will be laid on the road at a later date.
Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Like the other road work being carried out across the East Riding, these repairs to Minster Way will be short and have been scheduled for evenings and night times to ensure they cause the least disruption to traffic.
“Thank you to local residents and drivers for their cooperation while we carry out this work.”
