Heritage Open Days 2020
Thu 5th December 2019The Headquarters of Heritage Open Days, which is run by the National Trust with funding from the People’s Lottery, has chosen the Heritage Open Days for September 2020.
Nationally, the event will start on Friday 11 September and will run until Sunday 20 September. In Beverley however, as there is only a small administrative team, there will be a shorter opening, with the event running from Friday 11 September until Sunday 13 September.
Although as Barbara English, of the Beverley & District Civic Society, has mentioned: 'It is absolutely possible to have openings outside this long weekend, for as London HQ says, 'As always though, it is a policy of ‘any day or every day’ - events can take place on just one, or any combination of days through the festival, whatever works best for you.’'
On behalf of the Beverley & District Civic Society, Barbara English has invited locations in Beverley and the surrounding area to get involved in Heritage Open Days once again. The Society is welcoming early responses as to which locations are interested in taking part, this is to ensure an early start and to make sure the number of deadlines in the run-up to the event itself are met.
The national theme this year is 'Hidden Nature’ and the Society hopes to add several gardens to the programme. Some locations may even wish to open their garden instead of a building.
As Barbara English has said: '2019 was a huge success: I am sure we can build on that, and get even more visitors to more ‘events’ in 2020.'
