Do you want to make a real difference to people’s lives, play a role in keeping this country safe whilst reaping the comprehensive benefits of a full career in the Civil Service?

North of Beverley and lodged in the quiet village of Leconfield lies the Defence School of Transport - an internationally recognised centre of excellence for wheeled driver training.   The largest residential driving school in the world, this tri-service establishment trains over 6000 students a year from the Army, Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force on a wide range of specialist military vehicles, enabling individuals to gain an array of licences and qualifications.

The Defence School of Transport are in the process of recruiting Large Goods Vehicle driving licence holders to train the next generation of service men and women.  If you have held a Category C driving licence for a minimum of five years, with no more than 3 current penalty points, the school can train you to become a multiskilled specialist Instructional Officer responsible for delivering driver training to military students. Working in an internationally renowned Defence organisation, we are seeking motivated, flexible, inspirational and approachable individuals who are keen to make a positive impact in a dynamic teaching environment – both on and off road.

To apply for the vacancy candidates will need to register and apply through the Civil Service Jobs website.  https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk

The sift and interview process is competency based, guidance on this style of application and interview is available on line to assist you with the application process.   In addition to an interview, applicants will undergo a driving assessment in a Cat C vehicle as well as conduct a 20-minute presentation on a driving related subject of their choice.  Applicants must be free from any driving disqualifications for the previous 4 years (from the termination point of the disqualification)

Due to COVID19 restrictions, PPE will be provided for all assessments as per current DVSA and Government guidelines to ensure the safety of both candidates and assessor.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to make a difference, we look forward to receiving your applications through the Civil Service Jobs website – Closing date 23 August 2020.
