Groove into the weekend as Bus Stop gets the party started at Beverley Races
Wed 27th June 2018Legendary disco extravaganza Bus Stop is returning to Beverley Racecourse – and this time racegoers can party their way into the weekend!
The seventies-themed race night went down a storm when it launched as a midweek attraction last year, but many racegoers said it would have been even better as a weekend event.
Now the Beverley Racecourse team have responded to popular demand by re-scheduling it to a Friday evening, so racegoers can really let their hair down.
Bus Stop launched at LAs nightclub in Hull in 1995 and ran for seven years, with thousands of clubbers enjoying the very best of 70s disco hits and revelling in fashions that time tried to forget!
DJ Tony Loveshaft and dancers Tricity Bendix and Crystal Maze from the original show’s cast will bring disco fever to the Westwood course on Friday, July 6.
Kate McKee, Marketing Manager at Beverley Racecourse, said: “Our 70s Racenight was absolutely buzzing last year and we received rave reviews about it.
“It was so popular that racegoers begged us to hold this year’s event at the weekend so people could really go for it, without worrying about being at work the next day. We’re happy to oblige!
“Tony and the Bus Stop team put on a brilliant show. We can promise a fantastic, fun night that’s sure to get racegoers grooving into the weekend.”
At the height of its residency at LAs, Bus Stop performed to over 2,000 revellers and became a huge hit with clubbers clad in seventies-style fashion.
DJ Tony, aka Bus Stop creator Darren Smith, said: “It’s fantastic to be back at Beverley Racecourse for the 70s Racenight.
“We had a great time last year and racegoers got into the spirit of it all, even though it was a school night. With our new Friday night slot we’ll really get the party started!
“Bus Stop is all about digging out your best – or worst – seventies gear, having a great laugh, reliving brilliant memories and grooving to some classic disco beats.
“We’ll be turning the clock back to a time when people really knew how to get their groove on – so leave your inhibitions at the door and hit the dancefloor!”
Kate added: “The show starts after the last race and we want to see everyone on the dancefloor and reliving their disco days!
“It’s a great way to round off a great night’s racing but, if people just fancy a boogie, they can come along to the racecourse after the last race to join the party.”
Tony and his collection of 70s throwbacks will be spinning the decks behind the wheel of his trademark VW Beetle in the Premier Enclosure from 8.35pm.
The retro disco racenight will also feature fun challenges, a special cocktail menu and bottles of classic 70s tipple Babycham for the best outfits.
The evening will kick-start a fabulous weekend of racing, with the hugely-popular Big Saturday Raceday the next day, with the first race at 2pm.
With the fun-filled disco night expected to be popular, racegoers are advised to book in advance. Doors open at 4pm with the first race at 6pm and last race at 8.55pm.
Tickets for all the fixtures are available to buy online at http://beverley-racecourse.co.uk/racing/season-calendar or by calling the ticket hotline on 01482 867488. Racegoers are advised to book in advance, especially for the most popular meetings.
