Two inseparable dogs are hoping for a second chance at happiness after a change in their owner's circumstances turned their lives upside down.
Seven-year-old Glen, a sandy-coloured Lurcher, and his best friend Gus, a four-year-old black and white Whippet, are currently being cared for at Jerry Green Dog Rescue, where the charity is appealing for a loving family who can offer them a forever home together.
The pair came into the charity's care after their owner was sadly no longer able to look after them. A family member kindly stepped in to help, providing them with temporary accommodation for several months, but with the arrangement unable to continue long term, Glen and Gus eventually made their way into the charity's care.
Despite all the changes they've experienced, one thing has remained constant: their friendship. Having been together since Gus was just a puppy, the pair share an incredibly special bond, and Jerry Green Dog Rescue is determined to find them a home where they can continue their lives side by side.
"Glen and Gus have been through a lot of change, but they've always had each other," said Lauren Barker, Community Support Manager at Jerry Green Dog Rescue. "They're two lovely dogs with very different personalities, but they compliment each other perfectly. We'd love to find a family who can offer them both the stability, love and companionship they deserve."
Glen is the quieter, more laid-back member of the duo. Described as easy-going, affectionate and gentle, he loves nothing more than stretching out somewhere comfortable, enjoying a cuddle and being treated to the occasional tasty snack.
Gus, on the other hand, is the life and soul of the party! Full of enthusiasm, he loves walks, chasing balls, playing with tuggy toys and greeting his favourite people. He can sometimes get a little carried away with excitement, but underneath his playful personality is an incredibly affectionate dog with a huge heart.
Together, they enjoy getting out for walks and stretching their legs before returning home for a well-earned snooze. Both are friendly with other dogs when out walking, but they're looking for a home where they can be the only pets and enjoy plenty of attention from their new family.
The pair would suit experienced dog owners who can provide the exercise, understanding and companionship they need. They could live with children aged five and over and would benefit from a secure, private garden where they can play safely, particularly Gus, who loves a good zoomie session! Both are housetrained and, once settled, can be left alone for around two hours.
Lauren added, “We'd really love to see the boys settled into a loving home where they can feel safe, secure and enjoy life together. They've spent almost their whole lives side by side, and we want to make sure that never has to change."
After months of uncertainty, Glen and Gus are ready to put their past behind them and begin a new chapter. All they need is someone willing to open their heart and home to two very special dogs.
If you think you could offer Glen and Gus the loving forever home they're waiting for, you can apply to adopt them through Jerry Green Dog Rescue's website at https://www.jerrygreendogs.
