Flemingate brings the beach to Beverley
Tue 25th July 2017Shake off your beach towel and dig out your bucket and spade … the seaside is coming to Beverley’s Flemingate centre!
A giant sandpit filled with four tonnes of special play sand is coming to Flemingate next week, so visitors can enjoy all the fun of a day at the seaside without leaving the town’s boundaries.
Youngsters can build sandcastles and play in the safe, clean “beach” at Flemingate as the grown-ups relax with an ice-cream in deckchairs at the fast-growing retail and leisure destination.
In fact, as Wham famously sang in their pop classic Club Tropicana: “All that’s missing is the sea!”.
The attraction, brought to Flemingate by fairground operator Funfair & Candyfloss, will be at the popular shopping centre from Friday, July 28th to Sunday, August 6th, 11am to 5pm. Other attractions will include fairground rides, bungee trampolines and traditional attractions, such as hook-a-duck, while all the funfair staff will be wearing traditional seaside-themed outfits.
Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, said: “We’ve got lots of activities lined up to keep the youngsters entertained during the school holidays. The beach brings something a little bit different to the area and is easily accessible for visitors to enjoy in a safe and clean environment.
“There will also be a giant striped deckchair which is perfect for selfies and family photographs.”
Use of the beach and deckchairs is free and buckets and spades are provided. Rides and attractions are priced individually.
Visitors can park for three hours for just £1 at Flemingate’s 500-space car park.
