Families invited to give their views on East Riding’s Children’s Centres and Family Hubs

Families Invited To Give Their Views On East Riding S Children S Centres And Family Hubs

East Riding of Yorkshire Council would like to hear from families about Children’s Centres and Family Hubs and the support they provide.

The consultation has launched to understand which centres families are using, the support and activities they use and where improvements to the offer can be made. The consultation also asks about a proposal to use community venues, such as schools and church halls, to deliver some of the services.

Nationally and locally, Family Hubs are replacing Children’s Centres in providing joined-up services across health, family services, education, childcare, schools and the voluntary and community sector. They offer midwifery, health visiting, family support, infant feeding, antenatal education, postnatal support, speech and language, play, attachment and bonding support.

Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education said: “As Children’s Centres become Family Hubs, it provides an opportune time to look at how we provide services and support to families. We want to understand what is working well and what could be improved. We’d also like to hear views about expanding outreach provision and use of community venues, particularly in some of our more rural communities.

“We know how important it is for children to have the best start in life, and we want to ensure we continue to deliver effective, inclusive, accessible, high-quality, early support for children and families in suitable settings.”

How you can get involved

The survey takes around five minutes to complete and will be open until 10 August.

Family Hubs are a part of East Riding’s Best Start in Life Plan, which outlines how early years services will be delivered and how children will be supported to have the best start in life.
