Experience History Like Never Before With Brick History At Beverley Art Gallery 2

Beverley Art Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition Brick History, a captivating journey through 13.8 billion years of world history, creatively brought to life using LEGO® bricks.

Created by LEGO® artist Warren Elsmore and his talented team, this innovative exhibition transforms key moments in history into vibrant, engaging models that appeal to visitors of all ages.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Beverley Art Gallery, located in the Champney Treasure House, Beverley, will host this free exhibition until Saturday, 30th August.

Brick History offers a relatable, human perspective on world events, featuring iconic figures from Mozart to Martin Luther King, groundbreaking scientific discoveries from the Big Bang to DNA, and milestones from the moon landings to the advent of mobile phones.

Starting with the origins of the universe, the exhibition swiftly moves through prehistory, the rise of civilization, the Renaissance, the age of empires, revolutionary social changes, and advances in science and technology. Visitors will see history unfold through meticulously crafted LEGO® models depicting pivotal moments, from the birth of modern politics to humanity’s journey into space.

On Saturday 26th July, another engaging activity, Lego® Brick Picture Making, will inspire visitors to craft their own LEGO® artworks inspired by the gallery's displayed artworks. This creative session is free and runs from 10am to 3pm.

Beverley Art Gallery Curator Hannah Willetts said: "We are so excited to share this exhibition with families and LEGO enthusiasts this summer. A journey through history brought to life in LEGO® bricks, set within the historic Beverley Art Gallery, which has been welcoming visitors since 1910."

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: ‘’The Brick History exhibition at Beverley Art Gallery will be sure to entertain all visitors this summer. We are excited to host this creative exhibition which explores world history in such a unique and creative way and look forward to welcoming people to the upcoming family-friendly events.’’
