Enjoy a fun filled day on the farm at Sledmere
Fri 9th August 2019Celebrating Rare Breed Farm Animals and the conservation of our beautiful countryside and it’s wildlife.
Sunday 8th September – in conjunction with the popular Artisan Food and Craft Market.
This is a special opportunity to meet the goats, sheep, pigs and horses who live on the Farm Park, along with some of their friends who will be with us for the day. Local Suffolk Punch Horse duo Miri and Dusty will be here to entertain in our arena, along with our own Shires Horses including our Shire Foal, Walter, who will here to meet and entertain his fans. The Rare Breed Survival Trust stand will have lots more rare breeds of goats, sheep and turkeys and will be there all day doing talks, parades and to answer any questions you might have.
Our prize winning flock of Leicester Longwool Sheep will be on hand and children can 'have a go' at being a ‘Young Handlers’, with a chance for them to join in our classes to win a rosette. Alongside them you can meet Dartmoors and Herdwick Sheep. We will also have York Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers with us to show the process of spinning wool.
Fun farm yard themed games for all of the family. Face painting* and lots more.
Local beekeepers, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Woodland Trust and the Rare Breed Survival Trust will all be on hand to show us all about the work they do preserving the local countryside.
Do you grow your own veg? Children can enter our fun veg classes, including wonky veg and Vegetable-pals ( making your new pal out of veg) - please keep an eye on social media for full classes and entry details.
