East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground wins industry Oscar
Wed 16th March 2022East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground located at Cherry Burton near Beverley was crowned ‘clay shooting ground of the year’ at the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association’s annual awards held recently at the England football team’s training ground at St George’s Park, Burton On Trent.
Operated by the Hall family who are from near Malton, they have a wealth of business and personal shooting sector experience, operating the Gun Room, a specialist shooting shop at Holme Upon Spalding Moor and Lucy Hall, the youngest member of the family at age 18, is a successful GB Olympic Trap shooter, the reigning European Junior Olympic Trap champion and has the 2024 Paris Olympics in her sights.
Rob Hall, Lucy’s father explains: ‘Our ambition when we took over the shooting ground 3 years ago was to provide a clay shooting centre of excellence in the North of England for clay shooters of all disciplines to enjoy in all weathers. We encourage new people into the sport with ‘Have A Go’ sessions; improve the quality of clay shooting through provision of lessons and provide outstanding facilities to enable shooters including Olympians to train and compete at the highest level. We’ve had an amazing 2021 at East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground, hosting many fantastic events and welcomed shooters from around the UK who stay in East Yorkshire benefitting the local economy. The awards are nominated and voted for by clay pigeon shooters, so it is great to receive recognition from clay shooters themselves. We are ecstatic to have received this recognition and thank everyone for voting and supporting us’
