Automotive Skills Academy, a Community Interest Company, is a comprehensive automotive training centre designed for young adults aged 14- 24.
The academy offers a complete training programme with accredited qualifications devised to empower young people through practical training in valeting, detailing, and mechanics.
Sessions cost just £2 and are taught by volunteer tutors with extensive industry experience, who have a desire to share their passion with the next generation of motorists. Further services for young people are also offered for life skills development, mental health support, and guidance into further education or
employment.
Claire Cahill, owner of Automotive Skills Academy, said:
“Mainstream education isn’t for everyone, and many of the kids that come through our doors simply need an alternative outlet that sparks their interest! We created the Automotive Skills Academy so that the young people of Hull can have a safe space to explore their passions and find a progression route that fits their goals.”
Based on Fountain Road, the academy’s new location provides real-world experience in a working car unit. Showcasing dedicated valeting bays and two car lift ramps, there are also IT spaces for young adults to complete their assignments and develop CVs. The programme’s students have the opportunity to work on real vehicles, donated by the community and the Humberside Police.

The official opening is on Saturday, 30 th August. The Automotive Skills Academy is hosting an open day from 11am – 4pm, giving guests the exciting chance to see the new unit and enquire about the training programme.
