Take a moment to imagine what the winter months would be like without outdoor lighting...
Although it would be warm and cosy inside, outside would be a different matter; searching for the keyhole at the front door, losing the dog in the garden and no outdoor decorations would be commonplace. A bleak prospect indeed! Thankfully we’ve all got measures to combat those dark mornings and evenings - up down lighting at the front of the house, perhaps security lights at the back and pretty fairy lights to warm the soul.
Any outdoor lighting, whether attached to the house and wired internally, or just hung in the garden and plugged in to an outdoor socket should be protected by an RCD unit. If you are using outdoor sockets then housing them in a weather-proof box is a must. By not taking these precautions you run the risk of malfunction and potential fire. So protect your home this winter and keep the January blues at bay - make sure your outdoor lighting is safe!
