Dark jeans, black trousers and beige chinos are staple items in everyman’s wardrobe, with dark jeans being the most worn fashion items of the last few years. Most men make a bolder statement with a vibrant shirt, quirky socks or colourful pocket square, however there is another way...
This season, the trend is for bolder more colourful trousers: plums, greens, mustard, oranges, rusts. They are all there and available in shorts, too! Green is predicted to be a key colour in chinos this coming season, coupled with sky blue Oxford shirts from Mircam or Brook Taverner with a coordinated brown footwear and belt; it is a distinctively different twist on a classic look.
Footwear is more relaxed at this time of year. Deck shoes, Italian driving shoes and smart suede trainers in chestnut, grey and blue suede which all can be worn with an ‘invisible sock’ and a slightly shorter length on the chino to show your ‘man ckles’ off!
When making a statement with your trouser keep it simple with the shirt and jacket - nothing too bold. As mentioned, shorts are in season and the colours are bold too... dusty pinks, bright oranges and rusts. Hawaiian shirts add a touch of fun and co-ordinated deck shoes, with a cool set of sunglasses which all make for a comfortable relaxed look. A final ‘rule’ to making a statement and wearing a bolder look is to believe in what you are wearing. Be comfortable not only in fit but also in your mind.
