Climate Change is Real - could you go greener to help keep it at bay?

The International Panel on Climate Change report states there are only 11 years left to save the world from tipping over the edge of no return, when global temperatures are raised beyond the unstoppable 2 degrees. Members of the Social Responsibility Group based at Toll Gavel United Church have set up a study day to create noise around the subject and to encourage people to think of ways they can change their lifestyles to help reduce or not add to CO2 release.
The whole day is to encourage conversation. Chairman Rev Peter Cross will introduce speakers in the morning on a variety of 'green' issues, which will underpin a working lunch with multiple workshops in the afternoon. Speakers will consider how we can change the way we think about our economy and purchases by reusing, recycling, repurposing, sharing, renting, borrowing and refusing to buy 'stuff' we don't really need; they will look at generating and storing power; considering food choices; looking a what we do about plastic which will not degrade for hundred of years; about land use to reduce CO2 and methane emissions and to ensure a growing population has enough to eat.
Workshops include: Calculate your Carbon Footprint; Make an EcoBrick; Reimagining alternative ways of living; Vegan skincare products; Recyclable sanitary wear; Become an Eco Church; Why buying Fair Trade products is important; Cleaning Green without harmful products; Adopting a vegan lifestyle.
The whole day is a heavily-subsidised £15, which includes coffee on arrival, lunch, afternoon tea, resources etc.
