'Check 'em Out' Live
Thu 15th September 2016Clinical hypnotherapist Sheila Granger is organising a special awareness event for the importance of breast examinations for signs of cancer. #CheckemOutLIVE will commence Sunday 4th December, where hundreds of women will bare their chests at Hull KR's LightStream Stadium. As a mindset specialist, Sheila says that taking part in a memorable event will act as a lasting reminder to ensure women regularly check their breasts for a sign of change.
As part of the event ladies can choose to pose, topless for a group photo which will be used on social media.
Sheila Granger says: “I am delighted to be running this event to help raise awareness of how to correctly examine ourselves. We are inviting friends and family groups to come along to #CheckemOutLIVE.”
“Following the success of Sea of Hull, many people wished they had taken part and so we thought what better way to make sure this becomes part of our routine, although this will be an indoor event at the Stadium.”
“During the event, I will put the audience at ease and discuss how to feel proud of our bodies, but this will not include hypnotherapy. This will be followed by local award-winning comedienne, Gina Jenkinson, who will provide some light-hearted entertainment, and finally Breast Specialist Consultant, Miss Penny McManus, will demonstrate how to correctly examine the breasts. Ladies will be asked to remove their upper clothing to examine their own breasts. If they prefer to keep their clothes on, that is fine. Santa hats will be provided on the day.”
Tickets for the event will be £5, with all proceeds going to Yorkshire Cancer Research. The money raised will go towards raising awareness of cancer and how to prevent it, promoting screening programmes to increase early detection and funding innovative research projects, from diagnosis to end-of-life care.
