Cancer Research UK is awarded £25,000 from Tesco's Centenary Grants Bags of Help.
Thu 21st November 2019Cancer Research UK won the 1st prize of £25,000 in the Tesco North and East Yorkshire region's July - September Centenary Grants Bags of Help customer vote. The vote took place in all Tesco stores across the region and on Thursday 7th November staff from Tesco met Cancer Research UK representatives at the Beverley store for the cheque presentation and to find out more about how the money will be used.
Vikki Bassek, Local Fundraising Manager from Cancer Research UK, said: “We’d like to sincerely thank Tesco customers for voting for us. With these funds, the Cancer Research UK facilitators can help to drive cancer prevention across our community and make sure that more people with cancer are diagnosed as early as possible, when treatment is more likely to be successful and they have a better chance of survival. Without this essential programme, more people will lose their lives to this horrible disease. Cancer doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t care what age you are, where you are from or what you do for a living. Cancer affects everyone.”
