Calum Scott intimate show enables his artistry to shine
Fri 16th March 2018200 winners of KCFM 99.8's competition to see man-of-the-moment Calum Scott sing tracks from his newly-launched CD, 'Only Human', in the intimate setting of Beverley's Parkway Cinema, but were also able to ask questions in a Q&A session hosted by KCFM's Matt Hutchinson and then have selfies taken with him!
Accompanied by keyboard, drums and 2 backing singers, Calum's voice and his emotionally-charged songs, many self-penned, touched everyone's hearts. Calum is surely headed for the VERY big-time - and he was discovered here in Beverley, at Britain's Got Talent (BGT) auditions at Armstrong Social Club.
Sally-Ann Rena, manager of Armstrong's was one of the lucky few who were able to ask Calum a question in the Q&A session and yes, he did remember her and her how well she looked after him and all the contestants at Armstrong's.
Since series 8, in 2014, the introduction of a Golden Buzzer in BGT has seen each judge award a free pass to the final for their favourite contestant - Calum Scott won Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer in 2015, singing Robyn's hit 'Dancing on My Own' which he subsequently released as a single. The single reached No 2 and was the best-selling song of 2015! Not bad for a lad from Hull!
Many members of Calum's family, including Mum and sister Jade (who also auditioned for BGT, but who did not, unfortunately win through) were in Beverley last night. Quite rightly, they are very proud of Calum.
Matt Hutchinson from KCFM told Just Beverley: "We've been following Calum from the start and are delighted to be able to bring Calum back to where it all began, in Beverley. It is unfortunate there were only 100 pairs of tickets, so there will be a lot of disappointed people, but he is due to begin a nationwide tour, with 2 gigs in Hull, so his fans will be able to catch up with him there.
"It has been a great thing for KCFM to bring a local lad with his debut album, which was officially launched in Hull, to the Parkway. It has been an amazing journey for Calum so far and we will continue to follow him and support him."
