BURTON AGNES JAZZ AND BLUES FESTIVAL PROGRAMME NOW IN PLACE
Mon 3rd June 2019The unique Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues Festival, held at one of the UK's finest Elizabethan stately piles, launches on July 12th with eclectic international, national and local jazz and bluesmen for an unforgettable weekend. It has to be one of the most relaxed festivals in the country with many camping (with hot showers!) and others staying in local hotels, guest houses and B&B's.
With music on the main stage, in the hall itself, in the courtyard area and the bar tent, there's the opportunity to hear from over 25 acts playing the many different types of jazz and blues in a variety of settings. From contemporary to trad, punk, reggae, smooth, folk, jump, rock, fusion, ragtime, soul and improv, the only drawback with such a fine line-up is getting to hear everything!
There are always surprises at Burton Agnes, but Atila's 'King for a day: The Nat King Cole Story' has been acclaimed by none other than Michael Parkinson!
The headliner this year on the Saturday evening is perhaps the greatest keyboard player and multi-instrumentalist of his generation, Mo (Morris) Pleasure, who has been at the forefront of American popular music for over 30 years. He's worked with (amongst others) Ray Charles, Chaka Khan, Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson and is currently Bette Midler's musical director. A member of the legendary group Earth Wind and Fire and appears with a band of awesome musicians, so you will be in for a rare treat!
The festival as ever plays out with organiser Simon Cunliffe-Lister joining Ben Beattie's After Midnight.
With the fabulous grounds of Burton Agnes to enjoy, food and drink offerings and children's activities,, this festival is to be congratulated for its quality and vibe. If you have never been, then perhaps this is the year to get a ticket, if only for a day.
“Who could have imagined such an idyllic and sublime location for a Jazz and Blues Festival….thankfully somebody did…This unique venue and event is a must attend festival….make sure you get your tickets...I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.” Yorkshire Gig Guide
