Beverley is set to sparkle like never before this festive season! Beverley Town Council has unveiled an expanded Christmas lighting programme for 2025, bringing new features and returning favourites to create a magical winter atmosphere for residents and visitors.
What’s New This Year?
Christmas Tree-Style Lights: Installed in Saturday Market, complementing existing displays in North Bar Within and Railway Square.
-
Butcher Row Light Canopy: Zigzagging strings of lights will brighten Butcher Row, following the success of last year’s Dyer Lane installation. If popular, the scheme could extend further down Toll Gavel next year.
-
Real Christmas Trees: Returning to Wednesday Market, Toll Gavel, and Market Cross.
- Wednesday Market tree sponsored by Beverley Minster
- Toll Gavel tree sponsored by Beverley Housing Charity
- The Memory Tree at Market Cross provides a meaningful space for people to leave messages in memory of loved ones who have passed away. For many years, the memory cards have been kindly sponsored by Just Beverley, which continues its generous support as Beverley Rotary Club carries on the much-loved and poignant service established by Beverley Lions.
-
Snow Globes: Festive decorations now hanging from shopfronts along Toll Gavel.
-
New Lighting Features: Ten additional column-mounted displays, including new designs for Walkergate, as part of the 2025 expansion programme.
- Future Plans: The Council is exploring a striking new display on the southern roundabout to welcome drivers entering Beverley.
All installations are managed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council on behalf of Beverley Town Council.
Funding and Support
Beverley Town Council is the sole funder of the town’s Christmas lighting scheme. No financial support is currently received from local businesses. It would welcome any business or organisation who would like to support or contribute to the festive programme in future, and invites them to get in touch.
Mayor’s Statement
Cllr Alison Healy, Mayor of Beverley, said: “Creating a welcoming festive atmosphere is important for residents, visitors, and businesses. The Town Council continues to invest in Christmas lighting throughout Beverley, and it’s fantastic to see new displays again this year. A massive thank-you to the Minster and Beverley Housing Charity for their sponsorship. Christmas lights in Beverley are moving forward."
