Beverley Skin Doctor Invited To Talk At International Corneotherapy Symposium

A Beverley skincare specialist has been invited to address delegates at a global conference in Oxford later this year.

Dr Katerina Steventon will address delegates at the 10th International Association for Applied Corneotherapy (IAC) Symposium on the subject of Corneotherapy and the Skin–Brain Axis: A Translational Research Perspective.

Dr Steventon is delighted to be invited to speak at the prestigious event: “My talk on the skin–brain axis will explore how barrier function, touch, neurobiology and emotional regulation are intertwined and why ‘how our skin feels’ often precedes ‘how it looks’.
“It’s encouraging to see corneotherapy creating space for new conversation - connecting skin biology with lived, embodied human experience - making science meaningful to consumers.

“I’m looking forward to thoughtful dialogue and advancing a more integrated understanding of skin health.”

Corneotherapy is a remedial skin treatment methodology with its core principle being the repair and maintenance of the skin barrier defence systems. The concept was defined by renowned U.S. dermatologist Prof Dr A. M. Kligman. The I.A.C. was founded in 2013. It is a non-profit organisation operating worldwide to spread the knowledge of corneotherapy, develop it further and make it accessible to those working in dermatology and cosmetics.

The symposium will be attended by over 100 experts, including dermatologists, specialised skin therapists and pharmacists. It takes place at Voco Oxford Spires Hotel from 18th to 20th September.

Dr Steventon is a clinician and published author with a proven track record of translating skin science into societal impact and commercial solutions. She has pioneered the integration of psychodermatology into personal care, merging skin health with emotional well-being to empower consumers and brands. She promotes facial skincare and touch therapy as a tool for healthy skin and mental well-being.
