Beverley’s Tesco - Stronger Starts community grants scheme.Fri 25th August 2023
Tesco Community Grants has funded thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping to fight hunger, support young people and families, host community events and much more. Since 2016 the scheme has supported over 50,000 community groups with over £100 million in grants.
In the Beverley area the following groups will each benefit from the latest round of grants:
- · Beverley Civic Society received £1500 for their Trees for Beverley Streets project.
- · AFC Tickton received £1,000 for their Pitch Perfect project.
- · Brandesburton Primary School received £500 for their Foundation Stage outside area.
Rosie Ryan, volunteer with Beverley Civic Society, said: ‘‘We would like to thank Tesco Community Grants for helping us win the customer vote to plant more trees in Beverley. We are delighted to be able to spend the grant money on planting more trees to enhance the streets of our town.’’
Kirsty Brumpton, AFC Tickton Club Secretary, said: ‘‘On behalf of AFC Tickton we would like to thank Tesco for the opportunity of raising funds through their Tesco community grants scheme and of course their amazing customers who voted and allowed our clubs "pitch perfect" mission to come to fruition. We have a few weeks to work on our pitches and with these extra funds we can go the extra mile to help the players in our club play on some renewed grass roots.’’
Morgan Hourihan, AFC Tickton Club Chairman, added: We really appreciate Tesco for the Stronger Starts initiative and their customers for supporting us. This goes a long way towards providing all of our players with the high standard of playing surface they deserve.
