Beverley Food Festival nominated for a Rural Oscar 2019
Wed 28th November 2018The Beverley Food Festivals have been nominated for the Countryside Alliance Rural Oscar ( go to www.countryside-alliance.org/campaigns/caawards/) .
The Rural Oscar is a public nomination award , so Beverley Town Council are delighted that the Beverley Food Festivals have been nominated.
Beverley Food Festival won the competition in the tourism section in 2016 for the North of England and went on to be highly commended at national level. The Food Festivals have been nominated in the Local Food & Drink category with the criteria detailed below.
Local Food and Drink
- Are the Food Festival and the Christmas Food and Drink Festival championing ‘local food’ and supporting other local producers?
- Has the community been put on the map by the quality and diversity of local produce being sold, and breathed life into the community/ local economy?
- Is there a passionate commitment from the Beverley Town Council - Food Festivals and the ethos and culture of ‘local food’ ?
- Has the Food Festival and the Christmas Food and Drink Festival saved or promoted a traditional local foods that may otherwise have been lost?
- Would winning this competition reward a really special enterprise and tell a positive story about rural life?
Beverley Town Council are quite aware this would not happen without the support of the wonderful community, local food and drink businesses, local media, local charities, organisations and local people that have supported the Beverley Food Festival since 2006, and the Christmas Festival of Food and Drink established in 2012, to grow both events within the community. Beverley really has become the local foodie hub and dining room of East Yorkshire.
It would be fantastic if anyone reading this would endorse the present nomination by using the link above, by 8 December 2018.
This is a great way to really put Beverley on the map by celebrating and recognising the local food and drink sector, rural businesses, produce and importantly our strong community.
The support process is quick and easy to do and only takes a few minutes.
The more people that know about this the better. Mention to anyone who may be interested in supporting the Beverley Town Council nomination, let’s put Beverley on the local foodie map together!
