Beverley Does Broadway: The Rebound
Tue 15th May 2018Back by popular demand after a sell-out run in 2015, our musical troupe bring you West End showbiz, delicious harmonies, and bags of talent right on your doorstep, in a revamped version of Beverley Does Broadway… The Rebound.
She Productions are putting on a show and it’s their opening night. Relentless rehearsals have ensured they are pitch perfect and that every dance step has been drilled with precision. However, Follies of their own have been distracting them, and Aspects of Love have our cast members preoccupied… so will it be alright on the night?
With classic favourites from My Fair Lady and Chicago, catchy hits from Hairspray, and even a bit of Sondheim, everyone can enjoy some of the world’s most popular show-tunes…with a twist.
Cast member and East Riding local, Eliza Hewitt-Jones says: “I’m so excited to be back home working with She Productions. It’s so brilliant to be singing these well-known songs on a Northern stage. It’s not all about the West End, we can do it just as well in Beverley!” Eliza first worked at the East Riding Theatre last Christmas playing the role of Mary in It’s a Wonderful Life.
Over the past 3 years She Productions have gone from strength to strength writing and producing 9 original shows including their sell-out hit, It’s Different for Girls, inspired by Hull girl-band Mandy & the Girlfriends, which tours the UK later this year. This year is all about revisiting their past shows out and sharing them nationally and internationally, as they also prepare to take their hit satire MissCast to the International Festival of Cabaret in Mexico City this August!
Beverley Does Broadway was the first show the all-female collective wrote and they are thrilled to be able to revive it with a new cast and creative team. Fleur Stevenson of Fleur Elizabeth School of Dance will be choreographing a few of the numbers and Wicked London’s Paul Frankish, will be joining the cast on stage as Musical Director.
Abey Bradbury, Artistic Director of Manchester-based Cream-Faced Loons Theatre Company, started working with She Productions last year where she won over audiences in the role of the hilarious drummer and food fanatic, Betsy, in It’s Different for Girls. Excited to return to the ERT stage this June, Abey says: “Getting to work with She Productions again after our swinging 60s shenanigans during It’s Different for Girls more than makes up for not actually performing on Broadway! It’s a bit less pressure on the bank balance as well!”
Join She Productions for a night of belly-aching laughs, show-stopping singing and a little bit of relationship therapy and you don’t even need to buy a train ticket to London to do so!
Beverley Does Broadway: The Rebound runs from 14th-23rd June at 7.30pm, with a matinee at 2.30pm on Thursday 21st, at the East Riding Theatre. Tickets are £10-14 and can be bought at www.eastridingtheatre.co.uk or via the box office on 01482 874050.
