Beverley Charity send millions of pounds of aid to Ukraine
Fri 11th March 2022Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Jacob’s Well Appeal has been very active in getting aid to the those who have been affected by the fighting. So far we have sent;
£5000 to our partners in Moldova to purchase food for the thousands of refugees fleeing the conflict;
2 Luton vans full of specialized trauma dressings and other medical supplies from the local ambulance services. Roughly worth around £100K
2 x 44ft curtain siders have been loaded with over 100 pallets of Silvercell dressings, ideal for burns and gunshot wounds. These have been kindly donated by the manufacturer 3M Health Care. The value of these at cost price is around £2million.
We plan to send 2 or 3 similar trucks of medical supplies over the next few weeks.
This aid will be shipped through Romania, transferred into Ukrainian trucks on the border and then sent on to the hospitals in the war zone within Ukraine.
Right now, we are appealing for food, specifically rice, pasta, cereal, tinned meat, fish & vegetables, nappies and baby clothes which we can send with our next shipment. People can bring items into our warehouse on Swinemoor Lane, Beverley (just behind Aldi) or into our shops in Bridlington or Beverley centre.
Several local schools and churches are partnering with Jacob’s Well and collecting food for our Ukrainian appeal.
Donations of money are also very useful. Each lorry costs almost £4000 to send. And we also need to send more money to our partners in Ukraine and Moldova to buy food for the refugees.
Donations can be made at our shops, office or web-site;
