Saturday 14 November 2026, 4.00pm
St Mary’s Church, Beverley
Beverley Chamber Choir invites music lovers to an inspiring afternoon of choral music at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Beverley on Saturday 14 November at 4.00pm.
The programme brings together three outstanding works from the choral repertoire, offering an opportunity to experience the expressive power, beauty and variety of music by Gabriel Fauré, Benjamin Britten and Edward Elgar.
At the heart of the concert is Fauré’s much-loved Requiem, a work celebrated for its serenity, lyrical beauty and sense of consolation. Rather than focusing on the drama of death, Fauré’s setting offers a deeply moving vision of peace and eternal rest.
The choir will also perform Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia, a vibrant and imaginative celebration of music itself. With its rich harmonies and distinctive character, this work showcases Britten’s remarkable gift for combining poetic text with inventive musical writing.
Completing the programme is Elgar’s Four Choral Songs, a collection that demonstrates the composer’s characteristic warmth, expressive depth and mastery of the choral tradition.
Set within the historic surroundings of St Mary’s Church, this concert promises a memorable afternoon for lovers of choral music and anyone wishing to enjoy some of the finest works in the English and French repertoire.
Beverley Chamber Choir looks forward to welcoming audiences for this special musical occasion.
