Beethoven comes to Beverley, (but not as we know him!)

Mon 2nd December 2019
Beethoven Comes To Beverley Pe Ensemble

This Friday, 6 December, the Pettman Ensemble will bring two unusual chamber arrangements of Beethoven to Toll Gavel Methodist Church. The ensemble, a flexible touring group of musicians from New Zealand and Australia, are presenting
two Beethoven symphonies in arrangements for violin, cello, piano and flute by Johann Nepomuk Hummel.

This year the ensemble embarked on the first ever recording of these unique arrangements of all the Beethoven Symphonies for the Naxos label. This Friday will give Beverley concert-goers a rare opportunity to hear them in a live performance of
the Pastoral Symphony and the 2nd Symphony which are scheduled for release by Naxos in 2020.

Beverley is only one stop on an international tour taking in the UK, Latvia and Australia for these widely-acclaimed musicians whose playing has been described as “a ravishing treat” “glorious” and “ebullient” and who featured on the BBC website
and in Radio 3’s InTune series.

Admission for the concert, which is being presented in collaboration with the Beverley-Lemgo Twinning Association, is £10 (Students £5). Tickets on the door or via www.eventbrite.co.uk.
