Classically Yours, winner of the 2017 Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Audience and Engagement, is to return to the East Riding to allow people to discover, enjoy and take part in a range of orchestral music activities.

This new season will bring some of the UK’s top orchestras, including Manchester Camerata, Sinfonia Viva, Britten Sinfonia and The Hallé Orchestra to the area. Performing in Beverley, Bridlington and Withernsea, there will be special concerts for children, families and older people, and opportunities for community groups to work with the orchestras.

Classically Yours will consist of a number of orchestral concerts throughout 2019 and into 2020.  The season will start in October in Beverley with a concert for children aged eight years and under, ‘Flutter and Fly’ with Sinfonia Viva.  This will feature beautiful original songs and wonderful classics and every child will receive a free CD and book of the story to take away with them.

Classical top selling soprano, Rebecca Newman, will also be visiting Beverley in November with a special programme of her favourite operatic arias.

The traditional Viennese concert will return in January, 2020 at Bridlington Spa with Sinfonia Viva, the grammy-nominated and RPS Awards 2018 winning orchestra, featuring a captivating solo violin performance and guest tenor Robert Lewis, with all the usual well known Viennese music.

The Hallé Orchestra are returning to the area in August, 2020 for another fun-filled family concert. Joined by presenter Tom Redmond for an American themed programme with everything from Copland’s The Fanfare for the Common Man to West Side Story.

Councillor Shaun Horton, portfolio holder for tourism, leisure and culture, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we are able once again to launch a new season of Classically Yours, with some of the best UK orchestras and performers, all of whom have a passion for sharing great music.

“Enjoy a concert or recital, or perform and sing with an orchestra – the choice is yours!”
