Award success for Katy Robinson from Gilberdyke

Katy Robinson, assistant project manager in the council’s Building Design team in its Infrastructure and Facilities department, has been selected as one of this year’s future leaders in the “Top 30 Under 30” awards.

The awards recognise the best up and coming talent in the Hull and Humber region, and provide them with advanced training in the form of the LEAP programme, an extensive course supporting young talent in their aim to develop from good operators to good managers and leaders.

This is the first time the council has been successful in getting an applicant selected for the awards and Katy’s application, selected from over 70, builds on her previous success at the G4C Yorkshire Awards last year as Further Education Student of the Year.

Katy, 23, from, Gilberdyke, said : “It is such an honour and privilege to have been recognised as one of Hull and Humber's future leaders with the Top 30 Under 30 award. I'm really looking forward to the LEAP programme that comes along with the award, and being able to put the learning and experience into practice in the workplace. I'm so grateful for this opportunity to learn from the present and future business and industry leaders of Hull and East Riding”.

Katy is currently working on council projects including: RaisE Business Centre in Goole – Katy is assistant project manager on this £9m new commercial accommodation that has been developed working closely with Siemens Mobility.  Katy has championed the use of local subcontractors, as well as reducing the construction period and capital cost by coming up with solutions to drainage issues.

Hessle St. Anne's SEN School and Appleton Court Extra Care Facility: Katy is the assistant project manager, which involves the construction of the new £20.3m flagship school and extra care facility on Boothferry Road, Hessle. 

Blenheim Road, Bridlington: Katy is the project manager on the Blenheim Road project which involves refurbishment and conversion of an existing office building into accommodation.

This recognition helps to show that the council is a modern and forward thinking organisation, actively engaged in the Humber region and keen to promote our best and brightest new stars.”

Her enthusiasm for all things construction and drive to get things done means that she goes above and beyond every day, and this well deserved award is recognition of her hard work and positive attitude.”
