An award winning start for Grace Eva Cakes!
Sun 24th November 2019Grace from ‘Grace Eva Cakes’ recently entered Cake International for the first time and won a Bronze award! Congratulations Grace!
Held at the Birmingham NEC, Cake International is a world-renowned cake competition bringing together some of the biggest names in the cake-making world. ‘I felt a sense of achievement just entering the competition knowing how hard it was’ Grace said. This was her first time in entering the competition making winning Bronze an even bigger accomplishment!
Grace submitted her entry into the carved / sculpted cake category, which had to be 100% carved from cake and 100% edible - and there was an extremely strict marking scheme. Grace created an exhausted harvest mouse slumped in an armchair after the busy harvest; ‘my cake was inspired by the Brambly Hedge books I used to read when I was younger’ said Grace.
Based in Molescroft, Beverley, Grace set up her business ‘Grace Eva Cakes’ in December 2018. Her passion for many years, Grace was finally able to make this her full-time career after having worked in education for six and a half years previously. As Grace herself has said ‘receiving this award has topped off what has been a great first year for ‘Grace Eva Cakes.’’
