National first aid and health response charity, St John Ambulance is calling on enthusiastic, community-minded individuals across The East Riding to join its team of lifesaving volunteers.
Our winter recruitment campaign, follows a successful campaign run in Hull over the summer.
We are currently recruiting for two different roles: Emergency Responders, where no prior experience is necessary, as full training will be provided along with your uniform too and at no cost to any individual who joins us.
Successful applicants will play a key role in delivering first aid and emergency care at a wide range of events, both in your local area and also other venues including fixtures at the Beverley Races, MKM Stadium and Craven Park and many council-organised events such as Hull Fair.
Volunteering with St John Ambulance is a flexible and extremely rewarding way to give something back to your local communities, as part of a friendly team of volunteers.
Emergency Responders are asked to commit to a minimum of 100 hours per year, so the equivalent of just one day a month.... though we are of course, thrilled if you decide to do more.
We are also actively recruiting for Community Volunteers, this will suit individuals who would like to support the work of St John locally but have more interest in fund raising, marketing, community engagement projects or perhaps as part of our Fellowship Group, who are often seen making a cuppa, supporting our front line volunteers whilst on duty, running a cake stall or tombola but who also who meet in social settings too.
To help prospective volunteers learn more about our community work, we plan to host local 'Recruitment Events' in the East Riding, specific dates and the location to be confirmed.
At these events, attendees will have the opportunity to meet our local teams, find out more about the types of local events which we volunteer at and about the training we provide. As the safety of our volunteers and patients is paramount, all volunteers are required to complete a DBS.
''Volunteering with St John Ambulance is more than just giving your time, it’s about being there for your community in the moments that matter most,” said Jacky Bowes, County Commissioner.
“Whether you’re volunteering at a local sports fixture, a summer fayre or community engagement events teaching 5 ways to save a life, whatever the event, every shift is a chance to make a real difference.
We’re looking for people from all walks of life who want to learn new skills, meet new people, and be part of something truly meaningful and hugely fulfilling .”
All roles are now live on the national St John Ambulance website and can be found at
