A Coastal Christmas' is coming to Bridlington this weekend
Mon 10th December 2018A brand new festive event is coming to Bridlington this weekend: ‘A Coastal Christmas’ will take place near the new RNLI building near Bridlington Spa on Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 16 December, between 12 noon and 8pm on Saturday and 12 noon to 6pm on Sunday.
The weekend will include rides on a decorated festive land train; traditional fairground rides; appearances by Father Christmas during both days; a range of stalls including local food producers and sellers, and the RNLI; carols by local choirs and brass bands; and donkey rides (in daylight hours). The Active Coast team will also be running workshops making baubles.
Entry to the event will be free, but some elements (such as the rides and the donkey rides) will have a small charge.
The event is being organised by the RNLI and the council’s foreshores team, and is being held for the first time this year.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “This event will be a wonderful addition to what we can offer in Bridlington, and is a further step towards making the town a year-round attraction. I hope that residents and visitors will enjoy the weekend.”
Bob Taylor, Head of Fundraising at Bridlington Lifeboats, added: “We’re really excited to be a partnering with East Riding of Yorkshire Council in the first Christmas event to be held on the foreshore. As part of the festivities, we going to be opening part of the station to visitors and will have some craft and gift stalls inside the Inshore Lifeboat area."
