Local music promoter, Gavin Brynley of Hoffman and Leary events, was blown away by The Belgrave House Band from The Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds after seeing them perform their interpretations of Lauren Hill and Erykah Badu classic albums to sell-out audiences. When they said they were reinterpreting Amy Winehouse’s debut album ‘Frank’ he just had to book them to perform in the beautiful and atmospheric surroundings of St Mary’s Church.

Gavin said: “I’ve moved back to the area after 23 years in Manchester, working with bands such as Elbow, The Twang and GusGus, running all kinds of events from student parties to VIP parties at V Festival.  I now work across the road from St Mary’s Church (at The Modern Draper), have been mixing with local creatives and businesses and just knew The Belgrave House Band with its phenomenal line-up would be the perfect band for this venue. When the band saw the church, they jumped at the chance to play in such historic surroundings!”

The band features the amazing voices of jazz singers Nel Begley and Becci Harrington (pictured) along with members of Tetes De Pois, Skwid Ink, and Garde Dog. Soul,Funk,Rare Grooves DJ set will get everyone in the mood and there is a licensed bar. Tickets are £15 from The Modern Draper and Bug Vinyl with no booking fee or online from See Tickets/Skiddle/Eventim/Ents24 with booking fee.

The gig is on Saturday 21st September, starting 7.30pm.

Gavin promises this gig won’t be a one-off as he is looking to bring a big name to the church next year. Watch this space!
