The project is due to begin on Monday 22 September and is scheduled to last for one week, with work being carried out during the daytime.
The scheme will include resurfacing, structural patching, replacing drain covers and kerbing.
During the improvement work, the road will be closed to all through traffic, and a diversion will be in place via Etton Dikes, Moor Hill, Road from Heater Corner to Cow Bridge, East Street, South Dalton Road, Main Street (South Dalton), Etton Road, South Dalton Road (Etton), Gardham Road.
Access to properties within the working area will be maintained.
The works will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team.
Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Thank you to local residents and drivers for bearing with us while we carry out this essential work to improve this road into Etton.”
Another scheme to structurally patch the remaining length of Main Street is scheduled for later in the year.
The road is then scheduled for surface dressing, the laying of chippings, in summer next year in order to further strengthen the road and protect it from potholes and other damage.
