Cherry Burton Arts presents Flossie Malavialle and Edwina Hayes

Driffield-based singer Edwina Hayes returns to Cherry Burton in a special show also featuring Flossie Malavialle. Flossie is a French singer who got involved in the British folk scene whilst on a teacher exchange visit in the North East of England to help improve her command of English. She found a position in Stockton-on-Tees – an interesting part of the country in which to get to grips with the English language. Based in Darlington, she also explored the music scene of the area and soon found herself being booked for folk clubs and festivals as her fame spread.  Her profile went from strength to strength- and she decided to stay on in the area!  Just a few years later she has a string of great albums to her credit and a full gig diary! Her material ranges from well known folk songs to jazz standards, blues numbers and even Edith Piaf classics- a repertoire that seems to suit every taste. It shows off her remarkable voice which when blended with her lovable personality and sharp sense of humour wins audiences over from the start.

Edwina Hayes is a Yorkshire based singer songwriter described by Nanci Griffith as ‘The Sweetest Voice in England.’ Her version of Randy Newman’s ‘Feels Like Home’ was featured in the major motion picture ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ earning her numerous new fans. Her shows are a pleasing blend of well crafted songs – beautifully sung and played – coupled with a natural charm that audiences everywhere find appealing. She appears to be totally at ease whether performing in an intimate venue-or from the UK’s finest stages.

Together the pair will play their own sets, and collaborate on some songs to make for a memorable evening.
Support is from Beverley singer songwriter Tom Francis Turner.
