‘TRYING TO LIVE IN A BODY CARRYING TENSION IS LIKE TRYING TO DRIVE YOUR CAR WITH THE HANDBRAKE ON’ SAYS KATIE HUNTSMAN OF WILD THING YOGA.

Local yoga-teacher, Katie Huntsman, teaches joy-filled yoga classes with a strong focus on intention, flow and breath at Anytime Fitness on Wednesdays at 6.30pm and Saturdays at 11.30am.

The good news is that you do NOT need to be a member of Anytime Fitness to go to these suitable-for-all ages, so anyone can benefit.

The England football team, the armed and emergency services and business people are all encouraged to practice yoga for its benefits to mind and body.

Often people are wary of it as they don’t think they are fit or flexible enough, but yoga can be as dynamic or restorative as you like.

The perception of yoga only being practiced by people who can get their legs behind their heads is well outmoded!

Yoga is a great way to remedy postural issues, back pain and joint problems and can help with the rehabilitation of injuries and relieve sciatica. It’s great for your respiratory and cardiovascular health, can balance your hormones, improve digestion, build strength and flexibility and improve sleep. On top of that, its mental health benefits are widely known.

Katie’s classes include practical techniques to boost physical and mental wellness, so you get a work out as well as a work in!
She encourages self-awareness from an alignment/physical perspective but also through breathing and meditation to release tension.

As she says: “Every body is a Yoga body!”

Katie is a Yoga Alliance Professionals member, teaching Hatha, Yoga Therapy and Vinyassa.
