The Treasure House in Beverley is launching brand new art sessions for children and young people every Thursday after school during term time, called the Young Creatives.

Working with artist Esther Cawley, the sessions will give children a unique opportunity to make their own pieces of art and find out more about the artworks at Beverley Art Gallery. By taking part in the sessions, young people will be able to meet and work with other people of their age and develop a range of artistic and creative skills.

There will be two sessions running every Thursday during term time. The earlier session is for children aged 9 to 11 from 4pm to 5.15pm, and the later session is for 11 to 13 year olds from 5.45pm to 7pm. Sessions are booked in advance in blocks for each half of the school term and cost £6 per session.

Sarah Hammond, Treasure House Education Officer, says: “We are very excited to launch these amazing new creative sessions for young people. It’s a fantastic opportunity to try out a range of art materials and techniques and develop skills and interests. It will also be the first time we have made our art collection and exhibitions available in this way for children to discover and explore and to inspire their own creativity and imagination. No artistic skills are needed to join in - just remember to bring along your imagination!”

Young Creatives sessions begin on Thursday, 10 January and as a special offer for the launch of this new programme, those booking the 10 January to 14 February block will receive one session free.
