Beverley will be in fine festive spirits this year as once again it hosts one of the UK’s biggest one-day Christmas festivals on Sunday, 9 December.

2017’s Beverley Festival of Christmas was a cracker, with over 55,000 visitors and over 60 coach trips from all corners of the UK.

This year will be no different as the historic market town will be brimming with various festive events at various locations.

Traditional Victorian markets will take place at Saturday Market, Wednesday Market and North Bar Within, along with a whole ho-ho-host of seasonal cheer at Flemingate Centre – including the very popular Nordic Tipi Bar with its welcoming roaring fire.

Reindeer will guide Santa and his sleigh at 10am from Wednesday Market to Saturday Market. Visitors can even meet Santa and get a picture before Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer return to Lapland to prepare for the big day in December.

With over 120 Victorian market stalls offering a huge choice of food and drink – and, of course, stocking fillers – families can also look forward to face painting, traditional Victorian fairground rides, live music, dance, birds of prey and a snow globe at Flemingate Centre.

And if that weren’t enough, panto stars from Bridlington Spa’s Jack and the Beanstalk – including Star Trek actor Marina Sirtis – will add further festival fun.

Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The Beverley Festival of Christmas is always a highlight in the events calendar because of its popularity and the economic boost it gives.

“We look forward to this year’s for many reasons. Not only will visitors enjoy the seasonal entertainment and local produce on offer, but they will also benefit from the free pay and display parking on council-operated parking meters.”

From 10am-4pm, the free festival promises to be a memorable day for visitors from all over the country. More details can be found at www.beverleyfestivalofchristmas.co.uk
