Yorkshire Nature Triangle are hosting a free training event for accommodation providers, tour guides and tourism related businesses to showcase the very best wildlife-watching opportunities in East Yorkshire.  Experts at the event will explain more about the places people can go to enjoy watching wildlife and enjoy stunning scenery this season.

Attendees at the event will be the first to see a new online, e-toolkit to help visitors enjoy a wild day, weekend or week. There will also be a talk on the Winter Wildlife Wonders of the Wolds and a guided walk around Tophill Low Nature Reserve to experience first-hand some of East Yorkshire’s incredible wildlife.

Nature tourism in East Yorkshire, which includes bird watching, photography and guided tours is growing in popularity and is currently worth over £15million a year to the region. Visitors who enjoy watching wildlife bring a welcome boost to businesses throughout the year.

Helen Jones, Nature Tourism Manager at the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust said;

“East Yorkshire is rapidly becoming one of the best wildlife watching destinations in the UK. We’ve arranged this event to help local tourism businesses and services tap into this expanding market and feel more confident talking about where people can go and what they can see on a visit.

“There are wildlife spectacles all year round and therefore a host of business opportunities to be seized from nature tourism during traditional off-peak months.  This event will highlight the breadth of wildlife than can still be seen and enjoyed over the coming months and the alternative ‘winter wonderland’ that we have to offer - including mesmerising starling murmurations, colourful kingfishers and red kites swooping over picturesque Wolds! ”

The event will be held at Yorkshire Water’s Tophill Low reserve - one of East Yorkshire’s best sites for watching wildlife - on Tuesday 13th November from 10.30-2.45. Free lunch of local produce will also be provided. Up to two places per business can be booked via email nature.triangle@ywt.org.uk
