Charity Fashion Show 1

Beverley and Holderness MP, Graham Stuart has welcomed the initiative of three Beverley High School pupils, Jazmin Young, Amelia Sparks and Libby Marshall, who are participating in the annual Police Lifestyle challenge by holding a fashion show in Beverley. The free event will be held at Beverley Minster Parish Hall this coming Tuesday 21st August 2018, from 2:00 pm until 4:30 pm. The pupils will be using designer clothes from local charity shops, all of whom kindly agreed to donate their clothes for the event.

The event aims to highlight fantastic fashion available at affordable prices and show how, rather than throwing unloved, unwanted clothes in perfect condition away, these can be enjoyed again and again through charitable donations. The charities themselves will receive the proceeds of any sales that are made on the clothes as will Beverley Minster who are kindly hosting the event. The show will also feature cake stalls, nail painting, hair braiding and homemade crafts.

The charities involved include the British Heart foundation, Cancer Research, Scope, Dove House and Age UK, all of whom have shops in Beverley, and who will all be offering fashion garments and props.

Graham said “I applaud the efforts of Jazmin, Amelia and Libby for bringing this fantastic event to fruition. By highlighting how fashion can be recycled the girls are sending a strong message that buying clothes can be about more than just fashion and can also be used to support vital local charities and encourage recycling. I wish the girls every success with what is sure to be a fantastic event.”

Jazmin, Amelia and Libby, known collectively as Team Golden, said “We love doing it, as it's a great way to gain experience in organising and business management, whilst helping raise money and awareness for the environment".

The team’s adult advisor, Paul Young, commented “I was delighted and honoured when the team asked me to be the adult advisor for their Police Lifestyle challenge 2018. They have engaged the community through, radio, magazine, newspaper and of course social media. They have even gained support from Graham Stuart. The Lifestyle fashion show is on track to raise awareness and money for locally based charity shops and Beverley Minster”.
