Gin and tunes for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance fundraiser at Pocklington Farm Shop

Gin lovers are being given the chance to taste locally distilled spirits as they enjoy live tunes from popular singer Chris Berry in the name of charity.

Following the success of the first G & T (Gin and Therapy) event that raised over £200 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in November, a second fundraiser will take place on March 2nd.

The theme of this event is still G &T, but this time its ‘Gin and Tunes' with live, acoustic music from Hull born singer, Chris Berry.

Guests will be able to try two gins from Yorkshire distillers including Slingsby, Masons, Sir Robin of Locksley, Whittaker's, Sloemotion and Raisthorpe. Each will be accompanied with a tailored garnish and premium Fevertree tonic.

Of the event, co-owner of the Mile-Farm Shop, Jo Barnes said:

"We were very keen to run another event to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and when Chris came to interview us with his Yorkshire Post journalist hat on, we got talking about music and fundraising and decided to put onto an evening of gin tasting and live music.

"Chris's recent solo tour raised almost £1000 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance so it will be great to work together to give something back to the team who work tirelessly to raise the funds to keep the air ambulances running."

Singer and guitarist Chris' set list includes a mix of his own songs and cover versions of popular tunes from a range of eras. He's delighted to be supporting the event and is looking forward to a fun filled evening: "Jo and Colin are turning The Mile - Farm Shop into a real go-to venue and with gin taking centre stage what's not to like! I'm hugely taken with what they are doing and having played several times around Pocklington and Market Weighton over the past five or six years, it will be great to see everyone. If you've not seen me before just think of songs like Brown Eyed Girl and Valerie."

Bob Smailes, East Yorkshire Fundraising Manager from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: "We're delighted to have the support from The Mile - Farm Shop and this sounds like a fantastic event! To keep both of Yorkshire's Air Ambulances maintained and in the air we need to raise £12,000 every single day. The generosity and support we receive from the people of Yorkshire really is the life blood of the charity and is so gratefully received!"

Tickets for the Gin and Tunes Taster Evening, that takes place between 7 and 10pm on March 2nd, cost £10 and are available from the farm shop, or can be reserved over the phone by calling 01759 305420.

For each ticket sold, £1 will be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Refreshments, Yorkshire beer and a cash bar will also be available.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity providing a life-saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire. The service is operational seven days a week, 365 days a year. The Charity currently attends over 1,000 incidents a year; an average of 4 incidents every day. Last year, they treated 1067 patients at scene and carried 599 of those to hospital for emergency treatment.

The Mile-Farm Shop is a family run business owned by Jo and Colin Barnes whose family who have farmed in the area for decades. The farm shop specialises in food and drink items from regional producers that can't be found in supermarkets and offers a weekly fruit and vegetable delivery box service.

The family also run the Feed Shed and the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards-nominated Smile Café on site.
