Side Oven Bakery, based in Foston on the Wolds, East Yorkshire are hosting an open farm & bakery day in partnership with the Yorkshire Wildlife trust on Saturday 10th February. The event is free and open to all.

Guided wildlife walks are being taken round the Organic farm where the bakery is based. Walks will set off at 10:30am and 1:30pm from the meeting point at the bakery.

Jessica Sellers, Side Oven commented: “This is a great opportunity to see the huge variety of wildlife there is on an Organic farm. We have so many different types of birds including Heron, Buzzards, Owls, Plovers and much more. Not to mention the deer, hare, fox and of course the river life. Each walk will take approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours (dependent on what wildlife there is and how many are on the walk) and is between 1.5 to 2 miles. The ground conditions will be wet under foot and most of it is on grassed margins (i.e. not on stoned/tarmacked tracks), so good outdoor footwear/wellies will be needed. The walks are suitable for all ages, children are very welcome. If the walk is too far you are welcome to cut it short to suit little legs. There is a much shorter walk on a stoned track which can be done without a ‘guide’ on the day as well."

The Side Oven Bakery will be serving hot refreshments all day. There will also be the usual range of freshly baked speciality Breads, Croissant, Cakes and other produce for sale.

Plenty of parking & disabled access.

Jessica Sellers of Side Oven Bakery said: "We are an Organic food & drinks producer situated on our fifth generation family farm at the foot of the Wolds in East Yorkshire. We make a range of artisan Breakfast Cereals, Apple Juice and Fruit Cordials all made using ingredients grown or sourced on our Organic farm. Our award winning range of products are all truly handmade from start to finish to ensure only the highest quality. We use more traditional methods such as a Stoneground Mill on site to mill the Spelt flour used in our Granola, and our Wood Burning oven fired with timber from the farm to gently toast our cereals. These methods slow down the production process, but in doing so gives a fantastic depth of flavour."
