If you like the poems printed in each issue of Just Beverley by our poet in residence, John Fewings, there is a chance to meet him coming up later this month. Local rhymester John will be signing copies of his latest collection, “Poetry with Bits In” at the Oxfam Bookshop in Toll Gavel on Saturday 12th August. As well as a variety of poetry (39 poems in all), the book also contains a selection of anecdotes; a modicum of nostalgia; the occasional rant – and even a quiz. In this third collection of John’s poetry, the topics range from ad-breaks to zebras via bicycles, nosy neighbours, sheds and wormholes. Truly something for everyone.
Copies of John’s second collection, “Having a Giraffe” will also be available.
“Although I do write thoughtful and reflective poetry,” John told us, “you can probably tell from the title of my second collection that my primary purpose is to entertain.”
If you have attended any of his performances, you will know how true that is. John will be at the Oxfam bookshop from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm so, even if you don’t want to buy a book, he will be more than happy for you to drop in for a chat.
